 Arte Prohibido: Desde Cuba Exposición 

The vibrant and provocative works of renowned artists in this exhibition Prohibited Art: From Cuba, features stunning pieces by Dayan Melian Castro, Edito Sanchez Santana, Ercadel Sanchez, Manson, Natalie Infante, and Yulier Rodriguez and offers a powerful exploration of Cuban artistry, expression, and bravery.  Many of these artists face significant challenges in Cuba, where government censorship stifles freedom of expression, and those who do not align with the regime often struggle to exhibit and sell their work. Coordinated by Nando OBDC inside of Cuba and Ivette Dominguez in Miami, FL, this art expo brings to light the resilience of Cuban artists, shedding light on their efforts to continue creating despite the oppressive conditions imposed by the Cuban dictatorship. The event will include special pop-up exhibits featuring the artworks of Cuban artists in exile Alexey Camilo Meriño Tellez, Fuentes Papo, and El Sexto.

Cuban Artist Fernando Almenares Rivera (Nando OBDC) Inculpated by Cuban Regime for Alleged Sabotage; Calls for Immediate Release Intensify January 8, 2025 – Miami, FL – Cuban artist Fernando Almenares Rivera, known as Nando OBDC and coordinator of the independent art collective Arte Prohibido, is facing accusations from the Cuban government of engaging in sabotage activities at the Lenin Park in Havana. These allegations were made public by his wife, Adriana Machado, following a recent visit to Nando at the Cuban State Security headquarters, Villa Marista, where she was informed of the charges. According to Adriana, Nando maintains his innocence in the face of these allegations. In her communication with ADN Cuba, she shared that the artist had been linked to a fire at Lenin Park, but he denies any involvement. Las torturas y presiones dentro de una prisión llevan al artista a la creación de esta pieza tan fabulosa en homenaje a los que no silenciar si voz ante la represión de una dictadura totalitaria. This piece, as the name indicates, it refers to what political prisoners and prisoners of conscience of the Cuban dictatorship suffer in Cuban prisons.
